New Delhi: The recent sports drama ‘Ghoomar,’ starring Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher and directed by R Balki, received positive feedback from critics. However, it appears that the film is not resonating well with the audience currently.

Unfortunately, ‘Ghoomar’ faced a slow start at the box office. According to a report by Sacnilk, the movie managed to gather only Rs 85 lakh on Friday, the 18th of August. The strong and successful performances of last week’s releases, ‘Gadar 2’ and ‘OMG 2,’ have notably impacted the business of ‘Ghoomar.’
Comparing the opening day collections, Abhishek Bachchan’s previous theatrical release, Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Manmarziyaan’ (2018), garnered Rs 3.52 crore. Surprisingly, ‘Ghoomar’ had a weaker opening even when compared to Abhishek’s debut film ‘Refugee,’ released in 2001, which managed to collect Rs 1.56 crore on its first day.
Unveiling Aaradhya’s Influence on the Climax Scene
In an intriguing revelation, the creative spark for the victory dance climax scene in ‘Ghoomar,’ performed by Abhishek Bachchan, came from none other than Aaradhya Bachchan. R. Balki discussed this in an interview with Bollywood Spy, stating, “This was a truly special moment in our film. I’m delighted that we were able to execute it flawlessly, all credit to the minds behind it.”
He went on to share, “Abhishek was conversing with Aaradhya and explaining to her that it was the finale of the film. To our astonishment, Aaradhya suggested, ‘Why don’t you do a little ‘ghoomar’ dance towards the end?’ Abhishek shared this ingenious idea with Balki and it received unanimous approval. Abhishek remarked, ‘This idea was entirely Aaradhya’s. It takes a remarkable level of insight and affection for a child to come up with something like this, and I am immensely grateful to her for it.'”
